Artist >> News & About
“One of the special attributes of Regina Porten‘s works is her ability to create an astounding fluidity that continues to circulate on the surface of her canvases. The artist possesses a certain sensibility that utilizes a textured surface that seems to resonate in and out of the picture plane. One work in particular title “Bed of Roses” presents a gathering of circular forms with a pomegranate tint that circulates as if being observed by a microscope. The ultimate result is a composition that is chock full constant moving energy. In addition, the artists’ pictures carry with them a generous portion of aesthetic merit with a unique twist of shape and color. Porten takes a cue from the abstract expressionists like Pollock and de Kooning in arranging her compositions in an all over blanket of visual energy. Though complex, these are pleasant and highly engaging works that leave a lasting impression on the viewer and a highly charged dramatic energy in the air.”
